About
I chose to research this topic because I've always admired contrarian artists who push boundaries and create art that challenges societal norms. Whether it's controversial lyrics from rappers or avant-garde movements like Dadaism, I'm drawn to art that questions the status quo.
Moreover, I have a deep respect for the artistry and dedication behind graffiti. Despite its often illegal nature, graffiti artists risk personal safety to bring their creative visions to life. Through this project, I've gained insight into the history of graffiti and learned that its development is more recent and less structured than I previously thought. I've discovered various techniques and styles within graffiti. Overall, this project has broadened my understanding of what constitutes art and self-expression.
